On Friday 17th October 2003 I was privileged to be able to attend the rededication ceremony of the Air Forces Memorial at Runnymede by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2.

The rededication coincided with the 50th Anniversary of it's original opening by the Queen in 1953

The Runnymede Memorial

Built by the Commomwealth War Graves Commission to commemorate the memory of the 20,356 British and Commonwealth airmen of WWII who have no known graves.

Designed by Sir Edward Maufe

The Memorial was unveiled by Her Majesty the Queen on 17th October 1953
